Centre Administrator Ms Sonam Phuti Bhutia presented a detailed report on the functioning of the centre. She informed that since its establishment in 2019, the OSC has registered 311 cases, including 25 cases from 1st June till date. The report also covered services such as temporary accommodation for survivors of Domestic Abuse, POCSO, counselling, free legal aid, and support under the hub for women empowerment, which is linked with the Women Helpline (WHIL) number 181. The SWO made relevant inquiries during the process, and it was noted that no inmates were present at the time of inspection. Staff of the centre were also in attendance.

Ms Bhutia emphasised the need for wider awareness of OSC facilities, especially in remote areas where information is limited. She also suggested skill development training for women approaching the centre, many of whom come from vulnerable backgrounds.

Taking note of these points, ADM Mangan observed that special Gram Sabhas at the GPU level could provide an effective platform for sharing information on OSC facilities, as these gatherings see wider community participation.

Following the OSC inspection, the Hub for Women Empowerment was also inspected. Enquiries were made regarding the programmes conducted under the hub.

The inspection further included discussions on the factors contributing to the rise in such cases and the measures required to address them. The meeting concluded with the understanding that sustained awareness is central to enabling more people to access the support and services of the OSC. For assistance, individuals can also reach out to the Women Helpline at 181.
