Centre of state administration ‘Secretariat’ vandalised; investigation underway

Sikkim’s centre of administration ‘Secretariat’ located at Tashiling, Gangtok was vandalised by unknown miscreants during the midnight hours of Tuesday. The Health Department situated in the annexed building of the multilevel secretariat suffered most damaged, 11 rooms, ATM booths along with bank have been damaged. However no loss of any valuable items and documents have been reported.

Sikkim police reached the spot today morning and has initiated the investigation.

As per the police multiple rooms of Health Department, Department of Personnel and Gazetter Section and Home Department’s store section are vandalised.

Speaking with Sikkim Chronicle, SP Gangtok District, Siva Prasad Yellasiri said, ” The matter is under investigation and we are going through the cctv footages of the building and soon we will nab the culprits”

Police has lodged an FIR and have registered a case under IPC 457 lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment, IPC 380 Theft in dwelling house, IPC 511 punishment attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment, and IPC 34 Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention.
