Defence Minister Rajnath Singh e-inaugurated 63 bridges built by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) in various parts of India today. The inauguration ceremony commenced at Kyungham, Leh, during the Minister’s three-day visit to Ladakh. He applauded the BRO for the effortless service to the nation in connecting many parts of the country. He stressed on the importance of the organization is the development of the nation. The Border Roads Organization dedicated 75 infrastructure projects to the nation on the occasion of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The built class-70 bridges in various parts of the country. Some of the bridges that were inaugurated today fell under this project of the BRO among others. Of the 63 bridges inaugurated, eight bridges are located in the northern region of Sikkim. With the completion and inauguration of these bridges, many remote parts of Sikkim attain connectivity. Moreover, it also opens up an alternate route for commuters. Sikkim being a landslide prone zone, this would be of great help to the people living in the rural villages. And apart from providing connectivity in the State, it also serves the purpose of enhancing military movement. These new bridges provide exceptional assistance for the India Army in transporting various equipment and troops to the border areas. This would help in enhancing Indian Army’s operational effectiveness. The completion of this project connects North Sikkim to the rest oof Sikkim in a better way. The Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang said, “I was pleased to be a part of a significant moment for India as 63 bridges were e-inaugurated by the Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri Raj Nath Singh Ji from Kyungham, Ladakh.” “I express my heartiest gratitude to the Hon’ble Defence Minister, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Respected Director Border Roads, concerned personnel and the army officers for their active efforts and further commend the cooperation between the Armed Forces and the State Administration.” He added. The following eight bridges were inaugurated by the hon’ble Defence minister in Sikkim today: Maney Chu Bridge (Dikchu-Sankalan road), Bichu Bridge (Chungthang-Lachungroad), Kalkhola Bridge (Singtam-Dikchu road), MunshithangBridge (Chungthang-Lachen road), Phimchu Bridge (Chungthang-Lachen road), Maltin Bridge (CHungthang-Lachen road), Dichu Nalla Bridge (Flag Hill-Dokala road) and Bridge at kilometer 24.70 (Flag Hill-Dokala road). by Vaidyanath Nishant
