The 34th Nepali Bhasa Manyata Diwas 2025 Celebration, organised by the Dikling Elite Ex Students Association (DEESA), was held today at the auditorium of PM Shri Dikling Senior Secondary School.
Minister of Education, Sports & Youth Affairs, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department, Mr Raju Basnett graced the occasion as the esteemed Chief Guest, alongside Retired Teacher, Mr SP Rai as the Guest of Honour.
Also present during the celebration were Zilla Upadhakshya, Ms Prabha Pradhan; Chairman Excise Department, Mr Em Prasad Sharma; Chairperson for State Commission of Backward Classes, Ms Pavitra Bhandari; Chairperson for Commerce and Industries Department, Ms Nim Chiki Sherpa; Zilla Panchayats; SDM (HQ), Mr Thendup Lepcha; OSD to MLA, Mr Hari Rizal; Head of Offices, officials from various department, along with teachers and students from various schools.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Raju Basnett stressed on the contribution of Late Nar Bahadur Bhandari and Ms Dil Kumari Bhandari in spearheading the Bhasha Andolan and playing a pivotal role in the inclusion of the Nepali language in the constitution. Further, he advocated the need to simplify and advance both literature and language to enhance the richness of the heritage.
Additionally, Retired Teacher Mr SP Rai highlighted the contributions of the language martyrs, and stated that due to their sacrifices, we are enable to proudly identify as Nepali speakers. He then stressed the importance of actively using and promoting the language to preserve it for generations to come.
In his address, President of DEESA cum ADC (Development), Mr Robin Pd Sewa, highlighted the importance of the day while recognising the contributions of alumni in shaping the committee. He further emphasised to embrace moral principles, while preserving the nepali language as a means to positively transform lives.
Emphasising the significance of the Nepali language, Mr Kamal Kafley, underlined the historical context of the recognition of Nepali in the eighth schedule of the Indian Constitution. He then discussed the challenges posed by the potential extinction of the language, highlighting the need to safeguard and preserve both the language and its cultural heritage for future generations.
The event also featured various events, including cultural programmes, extempore and quiz competition, followed by a felicitation ceremony recognising the achievements of students who excelled in the Nepali subject, as well as honouring the school toppers from PM Shri Dikling Senior Secondary School for standards X and XII.
Prior to it, Poet and Author Mr BN Khatiwada launched his publication titled “Paithala Ko Daamharu”.
The day also served as an opportunity to honour former students who have achieved notable positions in the state government
The day concluded with prize distribution to the winners and participants for their performances.
