14th State Open Athletics Meet 2022, Khelgaon Reshithang concludes

Gangtok, 29th May 2022: The-three-day long 14th State Open Men/Women, Junior Boys/Girls Athletics Meet 2022, organised under Sikkim Amateur Athletic Association concluded at Khelgaon Reshithang, today.

The Minister for PHE & Water Resources, Bhim Hang Limboo attended the programme as the chief guest. The Minister was accompanied by Chairman of State Transport Department, Basant Kr. Tamang. Various activities like 15-metres dash open men & Women, open 400-metre dash, open shot put, open women 100-metre dash, U-16 boys/girls long jump, shot put, U-18 Shot put, U-16 relay race, long jump, ball throw were organised.

The programme also had the presence of Secretary, Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Raju Basnet, Tenzing Loden Lepcha, SP Gangtok and also the President of Sikkim Amateur Athletic Association, Chairperson of Sikkim Khadi & Village Industries Board, Chung Chung Bhutia, SKM Sports Wing President Rinzing Wangyal, Badminton Association of Sikkim President, Chewang Zangpo, Deputy Director Sports, Jigmee Y. Lepcha, and other dignitaries from Sikkim Amateur Athletic Association.

Earlier in the day, the Athletic Meet saw a medal distribution ceremony followed by the Chief guest’s message delivered on behalf of Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang. Additionally, Bhim Hang Limboo, congratulated the participants and wished them the best for future endeavours.

11- year-old, Awenlok Bikram Raj of Tashi Namgyal Academy was the youngest athlete to participate in the Athletics Meet. He was acknowledged and felicitated for his great zeal and enthusiasm for sports.The programme concluded with the word of thanks proposed by Rajiv Roka.
