The 10th batch of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, consisting of 48 yatris, reached Gangtok on 23 August 2025, marking the completion of this year’s pilgrimage that had begun in June.
On their arrival, the yatris were received by personnel of the Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) at a local hotel in Gangtok.
A valedictory programme was organised by STDC for the pilgrims, officials, and officers.
The programme was attended by Chairman Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD), Mr Ashit Rai, as the chief guest alongside Chairman STDC, Mr Lukendra Rasaily.
In his address, Chairman IPRD, Mr Ashit Rai, said the number of Kailash Mansarovar yatris had risen steadily since the inception of the state government. He observed that this reflected the joint efforts of departments to ensure facilities, safety, and logistics for the yatris. He further said Sikkim had come to serve as a reliable and shorter route for the pilgrimage, which highlighted the state’s contribution to supporting the Yatra.
Chairman STDC, Mr Lukendra Rasaily, expressed satisfaction at the completion of the 2025 Yatra. He said the smooth conduct of all batches was possible due to the dedicated work of STDC officials in managing arrangements, the support of paramilitary forces and other agencies in ensuring coordination, and the cooperation of the yatris in completing the journey together.
He added that the Yatra not only fulfilled the spiritual journey of the pilgrims but also affirmed Sikkim’s role as a significant route for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage.
CEO STDC, Mr Rajendra Chettri, who was also one of the yatris, highlighted that the successful conduct of the pilgrimage was the result of coordinated efforts by all stakeholders. He said the journey demonstrated the importance of teamwork, discipline, and mutual support among the yatris, as well as the dedication of the supporting teams. He expressed gratitude to STDC and other agencies for their cooperation.
The yatris, in their remarks, shared that the arrangements made by STDC and other agencies for accommodation, travel, and logistics had enabled them to undertake the pilgrimage with ease. They said the assistance extended by the officials throughout the journey had given them confidence and comfort, and they expressed appreciation for the support received during the Yatra.
Certificates and token of appreciations were distributed during the function.
The programme was also attended by CEO STDC, Mr Rajendra Chettri, officials of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and STDC officials.
