West Bengal govt bans internet for eight days in Darjeeling and other districts

As secondary West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBSSE) or Class 10th examinatios start from March 7, WB government to, prevent cheating in these exams, the government has banned mobile internet.

These bans have been said to be done in some blocks of Malda, Murshidabad, Uttar Dinajpur, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Birbhum and Darjeeling districts of K.K. on 7-9 March, 11 and 12 March and 14-16 March at 1100-1515 hrs mobile internet (Mobile Internett) and broadband services (Broadband Services) will be temporarily suspended. In a statement issued by the West Bengal government, it has been said that this ban has been imposed to prevent illegal activities.
According to ANI, in the order issued by West Bengal, it has been said that in view of the examination of secondary in these areas, there is a possibility of illegal activities on these dates. Keeping this in view, this decision has been taken. However, there is no ban on SMS, voice calls and newspapers. Due to this, the medium of knowledge and information has not been banned.
Administration’s big challenge to stop paper leak during secondary examination. Stopping paper leaks is also a big challenge for the board. For the last two years, question papers have been leaked on social media within minutes of the commencement of the examination. This time it has been asked to be especially strict about it. Let us inform that in the last years, there were complaints of cheating in the districts of Malda, Murshidabad, Uttar Dinajpur, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Birbhum and Darjeeling regarding the secondary examination. A few years ago, in Itahar of North Dinajpur district, students became furious against the strictness to stop copying and also ransacked the school.
