“State government will Celebrate Sikkim Literature Festival every year starting 2022” CM Tamang

To conserve and promote literature in the state of Sikkim, Hamro varta television organized a week-long literature festival, namely Sikkim Sathiya Utsav.

During the  week-long celebration various competitions including  Book review competition, Painting competition, poetry residing competition and many more events to engage large and promote literature  in the state of Sikkim conducted in which literature lovers and students from various institutions around the state took part.

The  final day of  Sikkim Sathiya Utsav  was held at  Manan kendra, Gangtok today  in which poets from Nepal, Darjeeling and Sikkim resided  their poetry along with student  winners of the poetry competition under different categories also resided their poems.

Presentation of poems by renowned poets  Navraj Parajuli,  from Nepal, Manoj Bigoti from Kalimpong and Pabitra Lama from Darjeeling were the main attraction of the day-long program.

The program was chaired by Chief minister Prem Singh Tamang, Bhuwan KC Nepali actor/ director along with  cabinet ministers and other dignitaries 

Chief minister Prem Singh Tamang addressing the gathering congratulated the organizers for  organizing the program and termed it to be a historic event. Also, CM Tamang extended his greeting to the people of Sikkim  on occasion of constitution day

Tamnag stressed that the state government is in way towards conversation of literature in which he said, “Apart from other  development we are also in our way towards  development of  literature  also”

Addressing the gathering, CM Tamang announced that  Language directorate will  be passed in legislative assembly and upgrade it into board which will be pivotal in safeguarding and promoting   languages of the state.

Tamang further added that, “State government will now also publish the writing and poems from Chief minister funds of those writers who are unable to publish their works” 

Following the event, CM Tamang also announced to provide Apatan fellowship, which will provide scholarship to those who will to pursue PhDs in local languages of the state. In addition, CM Tamang also announced that staring 2022 State government will celebrate Sikkim Literature festival
