Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) Sikkim Chapter meeting held in Gangtok

A meeting of the Special Olympics Bharat (SOB), Sikkim Chapter was held at Gangtok on 23rd Feburary 2023 under the chairmanship of T. N. Dhakal, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sikkim and also under the chairmanship of SOB, Sikkim Chapter.

Kuber Sharma,President,SOB, Sikkim Chapter, briefed on the ongoing activities being taken up for the welfare of the Intellectually Disabled Persons (Divyajan) through their education, sporting and other activities. He informed that there is special school for such persons in Gangtok, whereas such are being sent to normal schools in other districts in Sikkim. 

G.C. Khanal , Chief Coordinator briefed about the follow-up being taken up as per the decisions taken up during the last meeting held in September 2022.

Ram Dhakal, Area Coordinator, briefed about the plan for the proposed games and sporting events to be taken up during the year 2023. He proposed that the District-Wise games competition for special persons will be held from March- June 2023 and will be based on selection. The State-level games will be held during the month of July 2023.

Dr. R. B. Biswakarma, Vice President briefed the organisation of  the SOB,Sikkim chapter to be registered with the Law Department and forfunding resources from the Khelo India Programme.

T. N. Dhakal, Chairman addressed the meeting and lauded about the good steps that are being taken up by organization and need to work with enthusiasm for the welfare of Divyajan or the persons with Intellectual Disability. He stressed that the games or the sporting activities at the district and the state level to be organized in a grand manner. He stressed for the concerned Ministers , Head of Departments, NGO’s and others to be invited to witness the events .
