Sikkimese Sports Legend, Football Coach Thupten Sir, Laid to Rest

In a somber ceremony held today at Decheling near Gangtok, the last rites of esteemed football coach Late Thupten Rapyal Bhutia, affectionately known as “Thupten Sir,” were conducted.

The seasoned coach, who dedicated his entire life to nurturing football talents in Sikkim, passed away on June 8 following a brief illness.

The funeral drew individuals from various walks of life who came together to pay tribute to the remarkable legacy of this influential figure in Sikkimese sports.

The funeral was filled with deep mourning and reverence as mourners gathered to bid farewell to their beloved coach.

Thupten Sir’s impact on the local football community was evident in the diverse crowd that attended the ceremony, which included players, fellow coaches, sports enthusiasts, and representatives from different organizations.
