Sikkim Police restricts uphill vehicle movement from Mayfair/Rumtek Fatak

The Office of the Superintendent of Police via an order, “Memo No. 564 /SP/Gangtok dated 27/09/2022” have directed restrictions and rerouting of traffic for vehicles moving up from Ranipool to Gangtok. Particularly, vehicles are restricted or are to reroute to facilitate the smooth repair, rehabilitation and slope protection work on NH10 at 7 Mile near
Gas Godown, above Forest Check Post Ranipool.

All vehicles except emergency services (Police, Ambulance and Fire Sevices) are restricted uphill movement and advised to take alternative route, that is, Mayfair/Rumtek Fatak- Adampool, Ban Jhakri Falls to reach Gangtok.

The restrictions and rerouting is scheduled for two hours, twice in a day, everyday till the completion of the repair work. The restrictions are from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM in the mornings and 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM in the evenings.

The order is presented below verbatim:

“Whereas the repair, rehabilitation and slope protection work on NH10 at 7 Mile near
Gas Godown, above Forest Check Post Ranipool has been undertaken by concerned authority
wef 27th of September 2022 and scheduled to be completed within few days.

Whereas, the two way vehicular movement on the stretch of road mentioned above is
adversely affecting the smooth progress of the work requiring proper traffic regulation.

And Whereas, to facilitate the repair and to ensure timely completion of works
without any disturbances at NH-10, 7th Mile near Gas Godown, above Forest Check Post
Ranipool, the undersigned in exercise of powers conferred upon me under section 159(2) of
the “The Sikkim Police Act, 2008” hereby restrict the uphill movement of all types of
vehicles from Mayfair/Rumtek Fatak between 0900 Hrs to 1100 Hrs and 1600 Hrs to
1800 Hrs regularly everyday till completion of the repair work.

All Emergeney vehicles, i.e, Police, Ambulance and Fire Tenders are exempted from the the restrictions.

All upcoming vehicles plying (during restricted time) towards Gangtok from Ranipool
side are advised to take alternative route ie Mayfair/Rumtek Fatak- Adampool, Ban Jakri Falls to reach Gangtok.”
