Sikkim: All educational institutions to remain closed till August 31

“Having observed that the possibility of spread of infection among the school, college and university-going students is still high and that the positivity rate is still hovering around 10%, the department, in continuation to such earlier instructions, issues instruction for compliance” Education department

The Department of Education released a notification vide Circular No. 27/SPD/SS/Edn/2021-22 dated April 24, 2021 which mentioned as all central and state government, government aided, and private educational institutions, universities, colleges, tutorials, coaching institutes, and hostels will remain closed till May 31, 2021 due to the surge in COVID-19 infection in state of Sikkim.

Further the notification stated that “Having observed that the possibility of spread of infection among the school, college and university-going students is still high and that the positivity rate is still hovering around 10%, the department, in continuation to such earlier instructions, issues instruction for compliance”

  • All state government, government aided, and private educational institutions, universities, colleges, tutorials, coaching institutes, and hostels will continue to remain closed till August 31, 2021.
  • For Central Government institutions, directions issued by Central Government will apply.
  • For institutions with no specific guidelines or directions, this circular will apply

Furthermore, the notification informed that “Online teaching and homeschooling being conducted presently through various platforms shall continue with strict COVID-19 protocol. Teaching Faculty shall submit weekly reports to their Heads of Institutions”

In addition, all the heads of the institutions are directed to semester  tests, examinations or any such assessments through online.  All the Hods are  advised to regularly attend their schools along with teaching and non-teaching staff for various academic and administrative requirements.
