Round Trek Recce from Dzongu to Yuksam via Goechala flagged off at MG Marg

Flag-off ceremony of Round Trek Recce from Dzongu to Yuksam via Goechala was held on the morning of October 14 in front of the Tourist Information Centre, Mg Marg. The Tourism and Civil Aviation Department organised the event. Round Trek Recce was flagged off by Secretary of Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Prakash Chettri in the presence of Special Secretary Tourism and Civil Aviation Department Karma Doma Youtso along with Director Finance, Karma Gyatso Dawa and Joint Director Adventure Cell, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Kazi Sherpa.

The programme was coordinated by Assistant Director Adventure section Manoj Chettri and the team, along with TIC Gangtok.The said trekking route is designed to attract trekkers from around the world. The estimated distance for the trek will be approximately 110 km, and the tentative time to complete the trek would take 12 days. The main objective of the Recce is to promote the Goechala trek as a round trek starting from Yuksam to Upper Dzongu via Goechala and Yongitar and vice versa.

The Recce trek, which starts today, is one of its kind in the state and assures better trekking options around Kanchenjunga to domestic and international visitors. The team of 22 members with all technical support includes locals from Dzongu. The Reece will take place for the next twelve days.
