Retirement Ceremony Honours Distinguished Civil Servants at Tashiling Secretariat in Gangtok

Gangtok, July 31 (IPR): The retirement ceremony for six Head of Departments was held at the conference hall of Tashiling Secretariat in Gangtok today.

Mr Raju Basnet, former Secretary of the Sports & Youth Affairs Department, who took Voluntary Retirement, was also accorded a farewell. He now serves the Government as the Minister of Education, Sports & Youth Affairs, Law, and Parliamentary Affairs Departments. 

The event was attended by Mr VB Pathak, Chief Secretary, Mr R Telang, Additional Chief Secretary, along with Principal Secretaries and Secretaries from various departments of the State Government.

The retiring officers on superannuation included:

– Mrs Yashoda Bhandari of the Cooperation Department

– Mrs Ganga Pradhan of the Women & Child Development Department

– Mrs Dhan Jyoti Mukhia of the Social Welfare Department

– Mr Bideswari Prasad of the Public Health Engineering Department

– Mr Pravin Pradhan of the Buildings and Housing Department

– Mrs Cheden Ladingpa of the Home (Protocol) Department

The retiring officers’ accomplishments and contributions were commemorated through testimonials read by Secretaries during the ceremony.

During his address, Mr Raju Basnet shared some notable accomplishments from his extensive career as a civil servant, emphasizing his contributions to the State Government. He expressed profound gratitude for the unwavering support he received throughout his professional journey. 

Similarly, the other retired dignitaries enthusiastically recounted their experiences from their extensive and noteworthy careers in the government. They passionately shared memorable anecdotes and insights, reflecting on the milestones and challenges they encountered throughout their illustrious careers.

The Chief Secretary commended the retired dignitaries for their outstanding service and expressed gratitude on behalf of the State Government for their efforts to advance the State’s progress. He wished them a healthy and fulfilling post-retirement life. 

He also expressed his joy at seeing a colleague transition from the Executive to the Legislative side of the Government, taking on the role of a Minister in the current cabinet.

The dignitaries were honoured with khada, souvenirs, and gifts by the Chief Secretary and other officers present at the ceremony.

The retired dignitaries thanked the Chief Secretary and officers of the Home Department & Department of Personnel for organising the farewell programme. 

Mr Rinzing Chewang Bhutia, Secretary of the Department of Personnel, conducted the meeting’s proceedings.
