A 38-year-old under trail prisoner has committed suicide by the way of hanging on Wednesday night. Om Prakash Sharma (38) from Kewzing in South Sikkim was taken in Judicial custody at District prison in Namchi on the alleged charges of POCSO on June 25
“ He was kept in isolation room as the RTPCR test was to be done. Any prisoner who comes to prison has to go through compulsory covid test. He tore the blanket and hanged” said the police sources.
A case has been registered, and the body has been sent for autopsy at STNM hospital in Gangtok
