The Ram Patro Memorial Award Ceremony, held on Saturday, May 24 in Gangtok, awarded two Journalists from Sikkim for their contributions in the field of journalism in Sikkim.
Puran Tamang, Editor of Summit Times, was awarded the Ram Patro Memorial Award for “Excellence in Journalism for the year 2024-25”. The award was presented by Dr. Indra Hang Subba, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, who attended the event as the Chief Guest.
Puran Tamang was honoured for his editorial leadership, ethical reporting, and consistent efforts to maintain professional standards in journalism.
Kush Hang Leewang, District Correspondent for Sikkim Express and Himali Bela, was awarded with the Ram Patro Memorial Award as “Best Working Journalist in Sikkim Express & Himali Bela for the year 2024-25”.
The award was presented by Kala Rai, MLA of Burtuk assembly constituency.
Kush Hang Leewang’s work in field reporting and his coverage of local issues were recognised as a reflection of dedication to community journalism.
Meanwhile, Suman Rai, journalist working in Sikkim Express, was presented with the Certificate of Appreciation by the Ram Patro Memorial Award Committee.
Organised by the Ram Patro Memorial Award Committee, the award ceremony had Gangtok MLA Delay Namgyal Barfungpa in attendance.
