In a shocking incident, Keshav Sapkota, General Secretary of the Joint Action Council (JAC) was attacked by a group of miscreants ahead of a scheduled JAC rally at Singtam on the “Sikkimese term Disruption”. The incident took place just after SDF leader Mechung Bhutia’s private vehicle was was vandalized. Mechung was also on his way to take part in the rally.

According to JAC sources, Keshav Sapkota has sustained head injuries and has been referred to Central Referral Hospital, Manipal. The incident has led to widespread condemnation from various political parties and organizations.

The administration was quick to respond to the situation and imposed Section 144 CrPC at Singtam, which resulted in the cancellation of the scheduled rally of the Joint Action Committee. The move was taken to prevent any further violence and maintain law and order in the region.

Bhaichung Bhutia, the President of Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) claimed that one of his party members, Kedarnath Tiwari, was also attacked. He said, “I will stay on dharna outside Singtam Police station untill all attackers are arrested”

The incident has caused unrest in the region, and the police are currently investigating the matter to identify the attackers. The incident has raised questions about the safety and security of political leaders and their supporters in the region. The political parties have appealed to the administration to take strict action against the culprits and ensure the safety of citizens.
