GSSS Kitam completes 75 years; platinum jubilee celebrated ebulliently

Namchi, 24 December: The Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Kitam Senior Secondary School was celebrated with great enthusiasm and exuberance, which marked a historic moment in the history of Kitam Sr Sec School.

Minister Urban Development Department, L.B Das graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Area MLA Farwanti Tamang, MLA Rangang-Yangang Raj Kumari Thapa, Chairpersons, Officials, School staffs, Students and Public at large.

The Chief Guest expressed his happiness and applauded the committee members for successfully organising the platinum jubilee of the school.

He spoke about the importance of education and the role that the school has played in shaping the lives of its students over the past 75 years.

He also emphasised the need for students to embrace a lifelong love of learning and to strive for excellence in all that they do. He encouraged the students to be, and to seek out new challenges as they continue their journey through life.

He also spoke about the challenges facing the education sector today, and the need for continuous innovation and improvement in order to meet the changing needs of students and prepare them for success in the 21st century.

In his speech, he emphasized the critical role that education plays in enabling individuals to achieve their full potential and make positive contributions to society.

Furthermore, he added that every student should have honesty, dedication, and perseverance in life as these values are essential for personal and professional success, and encouraged the students to embrace them as they navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

He praised the school for its dedication in providing a high-quality education and a supportive learning environment for its students, and motivated the students to take full advantage of the opportunities that have been provided to them.

Chief Patron MLA, Smt Farwanti Tamang expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated teachers and staff who have worked tirelessly to provide quality education to the students. She also recognised the hard work and achievements of the school’s alumni, who have gone on to make a positive impact in their respective fields.

She added the importance of education in shaping the future of a nation, and praised the efforts of the school and education sector in nurturing the next generation of leaders. She also encouraged the students to continue their pursuit of knowledge and to strive for excellence in all their endeavours.

The event also contributed a moment of silence to honour the memory of the 16 army personnel who tragically lost their lives in a road accident in North Sikkim on the morning of December 23, 2022. Everyone stood in silence for two minutes as a mark of respect for the fallen soldiers.

During the event, the chief guest felicitated MLA Melli constituency Smt Farwanti Tamang(Chief Patron, PJCC), MLA Rangang-Yangang Smt Raj Kumari Thapa (Patron PJCC/Alumni ) and Bhim Prakash Pradhan sponsor of trophy and cash prizes For the Football match in memory of his Mother Lt. Dew Kumari Pradhan.

The generous financial assistance was provided to 20 patients under the Chief Minister Medical Assistance Cell(CMMAC) The assistance was given to help cover the costs of medical treatment and to provide some relief to the patients and their families.

As part of the celebration, a variety of cultural shows like dance, yoga show, group songs were presented, including a raffle draw. A football final match was also played between Singling Sporting Club and Kanchenjunga Football club where Singling Sporting Club was announced Victorious.

The show performances were met with great enthusiasm and appreciation by the audience, and served as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The platinum jubilee celebration ended with a vote of thanks by Deepak Bhandari, Panchayat President Kitam Manpur GPU.
