Coming strict on those who have sublet the trade license the Block Development Office of Daramdin in West Sikkim has issued an office order to ten Gram Panchayat Units under its jurisdiction to identify the license holders who have sublet the trade license so that the process of cancelling the license could be initiated.
Speaking with Sikkim Chronicle, the Block Development of Daramdin, Ongdi Sherpa said“ Subletting the trade license is the violation of Sikkim Trade License and Miscellaneous Provision Rule 2011 under sub-rule of cancellation of license 13 (b). There have been many informal complaints about people subletting the licenses. This has to stop now because it is against the local traders’ aspirations”.
He further said that the matter needs to be raised during the Gram Sabha meetings.
“ I have directed the Assistant Director to ask villagers to bring this matter to Gram Sabha so that the license holders could be identified, and prompt action could be taken” he added.
Earlier this year in January, Darap- Nambu GPU had asked the BDO to cancel seven trade licenses which were sublet.
