Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Sunday attended the 1st State-Level MLA Veterans’ Gold Cup 2025, held at the Ralong KRG Community Playground under the Barfung Constituency.

Expressing his delight at being part of the event, the Chief Minister lauded the initiative for promoting sportsmanship, unity and healthy competition among veteran players. Addressing the gathering, he assured that the demands placed by the Hon’ble MLA of Barfung, Shri Riksal Dorjee Bhutia, especially those related to infrastructure development including road connectivity, would be given due consideration and examined on priority. He reiterated the State Government’s commitment to strengthening basic infrastructure for the overall development and well-being of the region and its people.

The Chief Minister also witnessed the final match of the tournament between Gangtok Constituency and Gnathang–Machong Constituency, in which Gangtok Constituency emerged victorious.

Prior to the final, an exhibition match between Barfung Constituency and Soreng Constituency was held, followed by vibrant cultural programmes that beautifully showcased Sikkim’s rich cultural heritage. The cultural performances and sporting events together added colour and spirit to the occasion, making the tournament a commendable initiative celebrating sports, culture and community participation.
