Cardiologist and Attendant stabbed at STNM Sochaygang; Accused arrested

During a broad daylight Dr. Sanjay Upreti, Cardiologist and one female ward attendant was stabbed by a 42 years old man at STNM hospital today.

The man was identified as Thinley Bhutia from Tathangchen, Gangtok. The accused Thinley has been arrested on site by the police personnels.

Further as per the medical experts, the health conditions of both the survivors are in critical condition and are under medical supervision at STNM Hospital.

DIG BK Tamang addressing the media stated that, “ The preliminary investigation has revealed that accused had a personal grudge with victim female ward attendant and in process of the incident Dr Sanjay Upreti, Cardiologist was also stabbed”

In addition, SP East informed that accused has been booked under section 307 offence of attempt to murder and 326 Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons

Accused when approached by Sikkim Chronicle revealed himself as Thinlay Bhutia of Tatangchen East Sikkim, further he stated that, “ I had no intention to hurt the doctor but he came in between”
