The executive Committee of All-Sikkim Students Welfare Forum (ASSWF) President Anish Sharma, General Secretary Yougen Sangpo Sherpa, Treasurer Prem Simon Chettri and Secretary for Cultural Affairs Bimala Luitel today visited the Social Justice and Welfare Department Government of Sikkim and submitted a prayer requesting the Department to release the Scholarships of the students at earliest.
The executive members of the Forum mentioned that educational institutions have started functioning in offline mode and many students are facing financial problems and this is indeed a need of the hour of the Scholarships for the students as well as this is the time for the disbursement of the scholarships. And the Forum delegates on behalf of the student fraternity of the state also mentioned that it will be a huge relief for the students if the Scholarships are disbursed at this hour of need.
The Director of Scholarships, Social Welfare Department stated that it has been delayed because the state has not got the fund from the Central funding agency, further he also stated that the Scholarships will be released soon but it can be released in installments.
The delegation also had a long discussions about the different Scholarships provided by the department to the different categories and the changes that has been brought in connection with the Scholarships.
