Namchi, 30th October(IPR): Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Kunga Nima Lepcha flagged off the State Level Cyclathon(40KM) and Half-Marathon (21Km) as a part of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas activities at Bhaichung Stadium, Namchi today.
The event was organised by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department. The 40 Km cyclothon event was held in the Men and Women Category, 18 Years above. While the 21 km Half-Marathon was held in the Men and Women Category, 16 years above.The cyclothon covered Damthang, Cherry Resort Temi and culminated at Namchi Central Park. Whereas, the route for Half-Marathon covered Bhanjyang and ended at Central Park.
The participants who stood from 4th to 13th Positions in the event were handed over consolidation prizes and certificates by the Chief Guest. Whereas, the participants who secured first, second and third positions shall be awarded on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at Bhaichung Stadium tomorrow.
A total of 426 participants including those from Haryana, Punjab, Goa, Assam, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya and neighbouring states West Bengal and Nepal had enrolled in the said event.
