An independent filmmaker from Sikkim Tribeny Rai wins second prize for the ‘best short film idea’ category during the Talent Campus Series of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF)held at Tehran from April 18-24. FIFF is the largest film festival of Iran which celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to quality local and international films.
Tribeny’s short film was based on the concept of family and her win in the category makes her receive the grant from the FIFF to make a short film titled ‘A house full of women’.This year, 60 participants from Iran and 20 other countries attended the seven days of internationally acclaimed workshops and stimulating discussions about cinema at the FIFF.
Tribeny Rai from Sikkim and Ruman Hamdani from Kashmir were selected to participate in the film festival from India. Tribeny completed her diploma in direction and screenplay writing from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute,India.
