Gangtok, July 10: As per today’s Health Bulletin issued by DG-cum-Secretary Health, Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia, 80 people have been cured and discharged, bringing down the active cases to 41. All these 41 patients are undergoing treatment at the Isolation ward of STNM Hospital.
As per the daily IDSP Report, the total Covid-19 cases in Sikkim is reported to be 121. The reason for this is that the migrated out cases (13) are to be reported in the IDSP report of West Bengal, as suggested by ICMR.
DG cum Secretary Health Dr. Pempa T. Bhutia clarified this in his Health Bulletin.
The DG-cum-Secretary also informed that the State is ready with the Antigen testing facility at Rangpo. The State Government has procured 15000 Antigen kits, he informed. He shared that the Antigen testing is likely to be rolled out from tomorrow, the 11th of July.
Dr. Bhutia further stated that Antigen testing will be highly beneficial as returnees can be tested at the screening centre itself, and if found positive, they can immediately be transported to the Covid-19 wing of STNM Hospital. Apart from the army and paramilitary forces and the general returnees, Antigen testing will be done for returnees who were already undergoing treatment for various illnesses outside the State.
Dr. Bhutia also informed that in the case of Army and paramilitary forces, if anyone tests postive for Covid-19, they would be sent back to their respective quarantine centres in Siliguri, as decided in a recent meeting of the State Government with senior officers of the Army and paramilitary forces.
