Sikkim: “SKM – BJP Alliance talk in last leg” Khaling


Gangtok, March 12: Sikkim Krantikari Morcha ( SKM) has said that the talk with BJP on alliance is on progress and that there has not been a final decesion yet on this.

“We are working on a Common Minimum Program with BJP if everything goes well and BJP agrees we will go with the alliance. We will update on the this soon” said Bikash Basnet, the Secretary of Publicity wing.

On 26th Feburary a high level meeting of SKM was held in Gangtok in regard to a talk with BJP on alliance. On March 6, Golay met with the BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav in Delhi.

A high delegation meeting was held at PS Golay’s residence at Singling in West Sikkim on March 11.

” After thorough discussion and deliberation it was decided in the meeting to go with alliance with BJP in the upcoming election ” said Jacob Khaling, the Spokesperson of SKM in a press conference in Gangtok.

SKMs condition on Common Minimum Program

1) Citizen Amendment bill should not be implemented in Sikkim.

2) Seat reservation of Limbo Tamang as soon as the government is formed

3) Central Tribal status to Eleven Leftout Communities.

4) Restoration of lost Sikkimese Nepali seats in Sikkim Assembly.

5) 371F, Rule 4/4 and old laws must be retained

6) Freedom to practise any religion,

7) Income tax exemption to Sikkimese residents including old settlers.

8) To let CBI investigate in Sikkim on corrupt politicans.

WHY BJP? Khaling on this said, ” SDF in the year 2018 met with the BJP leaders seeking alliance. Was this discussed in the Central Executive Committee meeting of SDF. Where was the common minimum program when SDF was in NDA?”
