Sikkim reports 44 new COVID-19 cases, number of active cases reduced
Gangtok, August 10: According to the daily Health Bulletin by Director General cum Health Secretary Dr Pempa T. Bhutia, Sikkim reported 44 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total tally to 910.
Although the cumulative cases are high, active cases are at 399 with more than half of the total being cured and discharged.
East district reported eight new cases and South reported 36. West and North district have informed of zero new cases.
Among the fresh cases, 39 were reported via RT-PCR out of 346 tests, while the other five via Rapid Antigen testing out of 115 samples.
In good news, 16 patients have been cured and discharged on Sunday from New STNM Hospital, Sochyakgang and no patients are currently admitted in the ICU.
The Health Secretary informed that the dialysis process has started in District hospital of Gyalshing, West Sikkim with three patients as the first batch and two more after a few days. If these two patients test negative for COVID19 then their dialysis will start from Tuesday. For proper initiation doctors and technician were sent from the district hospital of Namchi and New STNM hospital of Gangtok.
