Students scramble after their 12th board examinations to apply and place a seat in any college at India’s premier set of institutions – Delhi University. Apart from stellar academics as alumni, DU has always been famous for its students’ council elections, with students from all campuses joining to be a part of it.

This year’s election was marked by the addition of Zigmee Gurung, a first-year student pursuing a Bachelors in Commerce at Ramjas College, University of Delhi North Campus, as the Joint Secretary of a college with more than 6,000 students. He hails from Begha, Dentam, West Sikkim, but truly, he will go places!

Hard work, networking, actually solving problems of students and promoting his ideologies tirelessly for more than a month, he won by a margin of 400 votes. A young student from Sikkim, being placed in a position of responsibility so early is commendable. He is an example to the youth of our state.
