Gangtok, 13 June Krishna Kailash Rai(17) hailing from Purano Namchi, South sikkim has clinched bronze medal at 3rd Youth Men’s and Women’s National Boxing Championship today at Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.

Son of Santa Bahadur Rai and Maisury Rai, he studies in Boys Senior Secondary School, Namchi.

He won in 49 kgs category which had eight boxers -four boys and four girls –  from Sikkim competing in the competition.

Young boxer Kailash Rai played four matches against Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh and West Bengal while loosing to Services Sports Control Board of the Army in semi finals.

Team Coach Mukesh Rai of Namchi has expressed happiness on young boxers representing Sikkim in the national arena.

Likewise Manager Pravin Limboo has stated that Sikkim has many such luminous talent in boxing which needs to be honed futher.

Having won the bronze medal Kailash Rai has earned himself an entry to the National camp for boxing.

The championship was organised by Boxing Federation of India.

Kailash Rai has thanked his parents, coach and all his loved ones for support and guidance. He hopes to represent Sikkim and the country in the future.
