Gangtok, 7 June Internal Complaints Committee(ICC) has been constituted for the new STNM multi speciality hospital, Sochekgang with an aim to provide protection against sexual harassment in workplace to women, for proper redressal of complaints and prevention.
KB Gurung, Suprintendent, STNM hospital has confirmed the constitution of the body.
An office order issued by The Health Department and STNM hospital states that the main objective of forming the ICC is to sensitize and prohibit gender or sexual based harassment at workplace in the new STNM multi speciality hospital.
The six member committee is headed by Dr Ruth Yonzon, PCC cum HOD, Paediatrics along with Dr Yudok Bhutia, Additional Medicinal Superintendent, Dr T Peggy, Chief Consultant, HOD, Dermatology, Dr OT Lepcha, Consultant, HOD, Forensic medicine, Dr Tara Sharma, Consultant, Microbiology and Sunita Sirohia of Marwari Yuva Mancha as its members.
It was informed that any staff or plaintiff can forward the complaint to the committee in a written form.
Further, it was stated that on receiving the complaint, the committee will hear the greviance within twenty four hours and the names of the plaintiff ir accused will not be made public.
After the hearing, the Committee will forward the report to PCC cum Medicial Superintendent’s office who will be taking the necessary step which may amount to suspension or criminal proceedings against the accused.
