Gangtok, June 9:

The Health Secretary cum Director-General Dr Pempa T. Bhutia on Tuesday morning informed that six more cases have been confirmed positive for COVID-19. Four of the cases are from Kyongsa, West Sikkim; one from Chisopani, South Sikkim and one from Himalayan Pharmacy Institute Girls Hostel, Mahjhitar, East Sikkim. All six people were in a designated quarantine facility, and have now been transferred to the COVID-19 Isolation Ward at STNM Hospital, Sochyaghang.

Just on Monday evening, Dr Pempa in his daily Health Bulletin had informed that from the initial 7 confirmed patients, 3 on Monday morning had tested negative and would soon be discharged for home quarantine, bringing Sikkim’s active case to 4 on the night of June 8.

With the new cases being confirmed, Sikkim’s total active cases are at 10, while the total number of cases Sikkim has had is 13. While India’s total cases have reached to 266,598 cases with 7,473 deaths and are now ranked 6th in the list of countries worst affected by the pandemic worldwide.
