GMC suspends important services to support government’s efforts to tackle COVID-19

Gangtok, 23 March: Gangtok Municipal Corporation(GMC) has suspended key citizen services following the government’s efforts to combat the Coronavirus pandemic. The services suspended include the issuance of any new trace licenses, approval and issuance of “Blue Print Plan” which includes Tatkal Services.

It has been informed that for existing trade license renewal citizens can log in to gmctradelicense.in and apply online.

The local body has further notified that only in emergency cases will birth and death certificates are issued. While other certificates will be issued in later dates.

Coronavirus scare has also put many groups vulnerable to the virus including those employees engaged in sanitation service, the GMC has stated that the service will run as usual with the skeleton staff.

The local body has appealed to citizens to minimize garbage for disposal and recycle waste as far as possible.

Much contested tender processes for advertising/hoarding, children parks, parking and bazaar contracts has also been suspended till further notice.
