Gangtok, November 19: In a noble effort to save a young adolescent’s life, footballers of Sikkim have come together to raise funds for Reeya Lepcha, a young woman footballer from West Sikkim. She has represented Dental Girls Football Academy at a national level playing field.

The 15-year-old hails from Sangkhu Radukhandu village of Dentam in West Sikkim. She has been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour and is under treatment at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi. Initially, her treatment was being done at Central Referral Hospital in Gangtok and underwent the first surgery in October.

On Monday, the players from Football Players Association of Sikkim (FPAS) set out on MG Marg with a contribution box, requesting people to support Reeya’s treatment. “The treatment cost of Reeya is coming around ten lakh which is not possible for her family. We request the people to come forward and contribute generously” said the footballer, Nirmal Chettri.

He notified that the fundraising drive would continue for a few more days. Apart from this, her alma mater, Dentam Sr. Sec. School also urges people to help the young woman out in this hour of need.
