25-year-old Persis Rai is a young entrepreneur who specializes in making handcrafted cards, dreamcatchers, diaries, frames, bookmarks, invitation cards, fridge magnets and many more. Initially, she began showcasing her products on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. After receiving positive feedback from people, Persis founded her own brand ‘Persis’s Perky Crafts’.
She frequently conducts workshops, especially for women and children. She has organized many workshops in several children’s homes of Sikkim and for women of the State.
She believes that her work is not just the outcome of her creativity but also a symbol of empowerment.
‘Persis’s Perky Crafts’ runs with the tag line ‘simply handmade’.
Very optimistic about life and her venture, she says that people should be aware of their mind, body and thoughts. She hopes to open her own crafts store Gangtok in future.
“A strong woman stands up for herself. A stronger woman stands up for others,” she says.
Born to parents Tara Rai and Chandra Dhoj Rai, Persis is a Paljor Namgyal Girls Senior Secondary School alumni and a graduate from Loreto College in Darjeeling, West Bengal.
