The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda, today held a video conference with the BJP presidents and party functionaries of the northeast, during which he spoke about COVID-19 crisis in the NE region, its prevention and the relief measures for the public. BJP National General Secretary, Ram Madhav; National General Secretary (org.); BL Santhosh, General Secretary (NE), Ajay Jamwal; BJP presidents of the NE region and other functionaries of the party partook in the video conference.
Likewise, from Sikkim, state BJP President, DB Chauhan; Secretary-General, Bharat Dulal; BJP MLA, Sonam Venchungpa and state coordinator cum COVID-19 helpline in charge, Sudip Pradhan participated, informs a press release issued by the party.
Chauhan, the state BJP president, informed the meeting about zero COVID-19 cases of the state and collective effort of the state government, the concerned authorities and the public in taking the preventive measures. He notified that the state BJP has established various helpline numbers, not only for the people living in Sikkim but also for those Sikkimese living in other places. Chauhan further acquainted that the party has been constantly distributing essential commodities, hand sanitizers, masks, etc. to those in need through different mediums.
“Some party workers have also been making masks at their homes and distributing them to their neighbours”, he added.
Mentioning that the BJP Sikkim, following the PM, Narendra Modi’s leadership in combating COVID-19 has come forward in its support he informed that every BJP state member has contributed towards PM Cares. He also thanked the centre for working for the benefit of Sikkim and its people.
Nadda, the BJP national president, addressing the conference assured that the BJP has been working for the welfare of the NE states and also all north easterners living in other parts of the country. The BJP has opened helplines for the NE people, he said and added that in case of any emergency, one may call on those numbers for help. Nadda further notified that the central government has already released the first instalment to all NE states to be utilised for the COVID-19 crisis. Likewise, 25 crores have been allocated for Sikkim for the same, he informed and stressed that the state and the centre’s coordination in combating this pandemic must be maintained.
Lastly, he urged all to make the PM’s initiative of lighting lamps/light on 5 April at 9 pm as respect towards national integration, to make a success, ends the press release.
