Call it BEAUTY IN INNOCENCE ??
I received a query in the month of December 2018, from Kalimpong about a letter not being replied to. Seems like a little girl had written us a letter after our offer (providing anyone who writes us a letter – a packet of stamps) at our Philately Workshop @ PROTSAHAN – Stamps and Coins exhibition BUT never received a reply to it. She was interested in stamp collecting.
I received this one just the other day. I opened and read it and it was her. A letter Written and Posted in SEPTEMBER from Kalimpong but delivered to Darjeeling (3 hrs drive) in JANUARY.
Surprised and Curious, I started checking it out. She wrote a wonderful letter, mentioned the correct address, used a First Day Cover (envelope) we had handed out that day, sealed it properly and dropped it at the Post Office.
What she DID NOT DO was – USE A STAMP.
She did not use a Stamp at all. How BEAUTIFUL this is. This innocent little girl trying to do what people hardly do these days – WRITE LETTERS.
She might not be aware that she had to use a stamp, she may not have known where to get them from, still she wrote and posted one.
Thanks to the Postal Dept. for delivering the letter ( better late than never) even if it was without the Stamp.
PS – A packet of postal stamps has already been posted to this curious little girl in December.
Are we losing the Art of Letter Writing ?
