All State government and private institutions shall remain closed till Jan 31: Education Dept

“All State Government, Government aided, and private educational institutions, universities, colleges, tutorials, coaching institutes, and hostels will remain closed till January 31, 2022.” reads the notification issued by the Education Department today

Due to sudden surge in Covid positive cases since past few days the state government shifted the dates of reopening of the schools which was earlier set on January 17.

As per the issued notification it is mentioned that, ” All State Government, Government aided, and private educational institutions, universities, colleges, tutorials, coaching institutes, and hostels will remain closed till January 31, 2022.”

In addition the annual examination which was suppose to start by January 27 has also been postponed till January 31, Annual Examinations slated for January 27 to February 05, 2022 of the Government schools shall also stand postponed till January 31, 2022. Examinations or any other activities of the Government aided, and private educational institutions, universities, colleges, tutorials, coaching institutes which are not possible through virtual mode shall also stand postponed till January 31, 2022.
For Central Government institutions, directions issued by Central Government will apply.”

Furthermore, the department also instructed the heads of the institutions to continue with online classes, “All Heads of Institutions are further instructed to continue the conduct of online classes as per the convenience of the respective institutions scrupulously observing all COVID-19 Protocol and the Standard Operating Procedure and Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education, Department of Education and Department of Health & Family Welfare. “

In attempt to stop the sudden spread of Covid postive classes state of Sikkim has come up with the new guidelines which came into effect this Monday.

Sikkim within past 48 hours tested 182 Covid positive cases amongst the 192 cases includes Bedu Singh Panth Minister for Tourism Department. Likewise one Covid death has also been reported in the past 48 hours.
