18 youths from Sikkim have been selected to participate in the National School Games 2019 in two categories – Boxing (U-14) and Archery (U-17). The 4th and 5th batches of Sikkim teams for national-level competitions were sent to National Competition venues in Andhra Pradesh and Haryana. The athletes were selected from the recently held state-level Annual School Sports Competition 2019 held in Gangtok. 

There are 11 participants in the U-17 Archery team travelling to Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh for the matches commencing on the 24th and going on till the 28th of November, 2019. There are four girls and four boys each, with respective coaches and a manager. 

Arvind W. Chettri, Dinesh Rai, Prayash Gurung and Arjun Hingmang are representing the boys team, with Thupden R. Lepcha as their coach; Pempa Doma Sherpa, Barsa Rai, Susmita Tamang, Khusboo Gurung are representing the girls team with Dawa J. Lepcha as their coach. Accompanying them is the manager, Diki Dolma Lepcha.

In the U-14 category for Boxing team that will leave for Karnal, Haryana on the 22nd for matches scheduled from the 25th through 29th of November, 2019. Krishna Rai, Tshering D. Sherpa, Ayush Manger, Jayant Dagar are the team members who are accompanied by Anoj Kr. Pradhan, their coach; Pravin Limboo, the manager and Arpan Lepcha, the Chef De Mission. 

The Secretary of the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs and Director, Sports offered the young people khadas and extended their best wishes during the see off programme conducted for them.
