Report: NIRMAL MANGAR
A number of reports on voter complaints poured in from across the stare regarding malfunctioning of electronic voting machines (EVMs) leaving voters irritated and annoyed.
The non-functional EVMs leading to an abnormal delay in voting have come in from several places. In some of the polling stations the voting was delayed beyond 9pm.
” It was a terrible experience, We had to stand in the queue without water and food for almost five hours. Why was there no proper checking of EVMs prior to poll ” said a voter at Nandok Secondary School in East Sikkim.
When media contacted Chief Electoral Officer late night he said, ” We would be able to only give the official statement once the report from all the districts come’
